- Must be very informed about surgery to be performed
- You must complete all pre-operative tests before surgery
- Once you receive the test results, must go to the second appointment to mark the day of surgery.
- You should inform your doctor about all medicines that you usually take like: tea, vitamin E, aspirin, ibuprofen, knowing that these substances are anticoagulants and therefore increase the risk of bleeding during and after surgery.
- You should stop smoking a month before and after surgery, because smoking affects the microvasculature, impairing the healing process.
- Do not drink alcohol or use drugs before surgery
- You should drink plenty of citrus juices and vitamin “C” to improve the body’s defenses and healing process.
- If you have a cold or other illness of acute nature, please notify your doctor immediately.
- Rest as much as possible before surgery. This way your body will have the necessary energy reserves to deal with the procedure and recovery.
- You should wash it the morning of your surgery. Remember that you may not be allowed to take a full shower for a few days after surgery, It is important not to use creams, perfumes, lotions, deodorants, shaving cream or gel on the day of surgery.
- You must be in absolute fast for a period of 8 hours before your surgery.
- Use cool clothing and bring the necessary accessories for the postoperative like strip and support bra (preferably light in color) as listed in the previews appointment.
- Do not use a wig, metal objects (earrings, rings, chains, piercing, hooks, etc..) Pantyhose, painted nails for the day of surgery because they may interfere with the electrocautery, and taking vital signs.
- You must organize all your daily activities as unavailable for a period of 48 to 72 hours.
- Make sure you have the medications your doctor has prescribed for post-operative.
- In the post-operative’s important to eat healthy foods low in fat as chicken soup, grilled fish, grilled chicken, vegetables, potatoes, cheese, fruits and many natural juices that contain vitamin C. Avoid refrigerants.
- It is important that you know the wounds may drain serosanguineous fluid in the early days.
- Should follow the recipe and recommendations to your doctor. For any doubt please contact your doctor immediately. In general you should avoid exposure to smoking for at least two months after surgery, intense physical activity at least three months, you should not major physical effort, if you were submitted to abdominal surgery, walk slightly bent and sleep in a semirecumbent position for a week.
- Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen.
